New Homes in Broken Arrow | Knowing What School District You’re In

Hey guys, it’s Catherine here with your weekly podcast, again with Shaw homes, talking about new homes in broken arrow. And today I want to just talk to you a little bit about broken arrow public schools and building your new home in broken arrow and what you’re going to get from the school system, if you have school age children. So just to give you, um, a little bit more information about broken arrow public schools, um, so that you can make the best decision when building a new home in broken arrow is going to be that it’s been around since 1984, I’m sorry, 1904. And it’s been really, um, just kind of a leader in public education and Oklahoma. It’s a suburban community of Tulsa. There’s lots of agricultural areas. Um, there’s lots of growing businesses and, um, just kind of an industrial base in broken arrow.

It currently serves over 19,000 students from pre-K all the way up to seniors in high school. Um, another great thing is, um, and this includes when building a new home in broken arrow, you need to remember that this includes 15 elementary schools, five middle schools, a freshmen academy, and then in high school, um, we also have the options academy, um, which includes the alternative school, the virtual school, and then the mentoring healthy parents program, um, which was formally Margaret Hudson for, uh, expectant mothers. So when building a new home in broken arrow, um, it’s also nice to know that the high school and freshmen academy are both fully accredited by the state of Oklahoma and the north central association of secondary schools and colleges. So you are, um, going to receive a, your children will just receive a degree from an accredited high school. If you purchase a new home in broken arrow, their mission statement is to educate, equip, and empower a community of learners by providing dynamic learning opportunities, which enable all students to be successful on their mantra is 100% literacy engagement and graduation every student every day.

So one thing about broken arrow and building a new home in broken arrow is that it’s a really large community, which is why there are 15 different elementary schools. Um, as far as elementary schools, you wouldn’t building a new home in broken arrow. Your school’s probably going to be somewhere close to your neighborhood. Um, you probably have to drive more than a couple of miles to get to an elementary school. Middle schools are a little bit further apart since there are only five of them. Um, you may have up to say maybe a 20 minute drive, um, 15, 20 minute drive. Um, that would be the longest in order to get to a middle school if you’re building a new home in broken arrow. Um, another couple of things to kind of mention about, uh, broken arrow public schools is, um, they’re based there. They, they base the education off of their core values.

Um, they embrace the responsibility of their calling. They’re passionate about learning, um, they’re student focused and a relationship driven school district, and they celebrate and find strength and diversity. I will say that when building a new home in broken arrow, it’s important to know that broken arrow is probably one of the most diverse school districts. Um, it is majority. Let’s see here, I have these numbers. Um, I believe I’m not okay. It’s, uh, it’s 59% Caucasian, 6%. African-American 3% Asian, 8%, um, native American and then 14% Hispanic and Latino. So we do have, and then two or more races. Um, it’s about 10%. So we, um, broken arrow is a pretty diverse, um, schools as far as ethnicity goes. Uh, so if that’s something that’s important to you, then building new homes in broken arrow is definitely something that you are going to want to consider.

Um, some of the other things about broken arrow public schools, um, is that they believe in using technology to achieve academic success. Um, they want all of their students to be college or career ready. Um, they really foster an atmosphere of employee engagement and open communication, and they want to provide as many quality student opportunities as possible. Um, they’re also responsible for building upon the rich history that they’ve created. Like I said, broken arrow public schools has been around since 1904 and it’s just been a great school district, um, to be around that long, um, and to kind of grow as much as it has now, as far as new homes and broken arrow go. Um, like I said, there are currently 15 elementary schools and five middle schools. I would say that we are going to be, um, seeing more schools, um, coming, coming online as far as elementary and middle schools go.

I know that they’ve even talked about possibly building another high school because there are so many new homes being built in broken arrow right now. Um, and with new homes in broken arrow come new students and we need new space. So, um, for the past several years in city meetings, they have been discussing possibly, um, adding another high school. So that current, um, school that houses 10th, 11th and 12th grade would actually be split into, um, a couple of other things, just some other facts about broken arrow, public schools. Um, their total enrollment is 19,070 students. There are approximately 1100 and our pre-K centers, um, approximately 8,500 students in elementary school, approximately 40, um, 4,200 and middle school. And then, um, grades nine through 12 is going to be about 5,100 students. Um, so it is a rather large school district. Um, graduating class is going to be pretty high up there, but the quality of the education that you’re going to get in this school district is phenomenal.

Um, it’s just, like I said, um, it’s just large and it’s been, um, it’s been a good school district. So there are about when I say that it’s large. Um, this is another thing to consider when building new homes and broken arrow is that, although the, when I say the school is large, there’s approximately 1300 people, um, 1300 students per graduating class. Um, so that just kind of gives you an idea of how large it is. Um, our attendance rates are really great in broken arrow. We actually have, um, like I said, really, really great attendance rates. Um, they’re all in the 90%, um, elementary and middle school are both around 94 and a half percent high school is, um, uh, about 91, 90 2%. So when building new homes in broken arrow, it’s, um, it’s great that, uh, to know that kids are attending school, um, those are pretty high numbers there.

So definitely something, um, to consider when building a new home in broken arrow, is that kids actually going to school because our attendance rates are high. Um, we have, let’s see, um, in the, um, let’s see, um, only six and a half percent of students are identified as English learners. Um, so that’s six and a half percent of students do not have English as their first language so that they are learning. Um, we have in broken arrow public schools. This is another thing about diversity. If you’re considering building new homes in broken arrow, is that students represent over 50 native languages in 40 countries. 9.8% of students in broken arrow are bilingual. Um, so it’s just kind of, that just kind of gives you a really good idea if you’re considering building new homes in broken arrow of some things that, um, about the school district, some of the things that they believe in. And then, um, just some, some things about our student population.
